The University of Tasmania is delighted to invite you to participate in a workshop led by Emeritus Professor Geoff Scott to discuss current developments in assuring quality and achievement standards in Australian higher education and successful approaches to leadership in this area. He holds an Office for Learning and Teaching National Senior Teaching Fellowship entitled: Assuring the quality of achievement standards and their valid assessment in Australian higher education.

Key aspects of the workshop will include:
– What is happening internationally around assuring the quality of achievement standards and their valid assessment in Higher Education
– Validating learning outcomes and assuring the fitness of purpose of assessment and not just its fitness for purpose
– Ensuring we are using a valid professional and graduate capability framework
– The importance of developing graduates who are work ready and the results of successful early career graduates studies and focused employer feedback
– Ensuring that course level outcomes are valid
– The role of local leadership in successful change management in this area
– Policy implications for the University
– Development of a national online peer support and moderation tool and clearinghouse of good practice in assessment
